Make Your Health a Priority in 2018

Crossfit Lynchburg would like to wish you a Happy New Year (yes we are late. The reason is below!).
This isn’t a “new year, new you” speech, because for most people, those resolutions end after a few weeks. Instead, we want to help better the “old you”. The version of you that you turn back to when motivation starts lacking. Everyone wants to jump into a new diet the first of the year, but how long does it last? What if you learned more about your nutrition so that it could truly be a lifestyle change and not just a fad diet for a few months?
In 2017 we decided to start offering a personalized nutrition program to do just this and it became known as Food Tetris Nutrition. This business is run by CFL coaches Amanda Ruhl and Christa Roberts.
At Food Tetris Nutrition (FTN), we focus on “flexible dieting” or “tracking macros”. This means that we provide specific goals for protein, fat, and carbs, rather than focussing solely on calories. These macro goals are unique to every client and are based a variety of things, including your age, weight, activity level, and job. This means that this program isn’t just for the higher level athletes in the gym. This program can be used by the mom or dad that are just getting into the gym to focus on their health and have better energy, or by the competitive crossfitter or high school athlete that wants to perform better.
We don’t believe in meal plans or templates. We won’t argue that they can work. However, do you really learn anything other than how to eat a ton of chicken, broccoli, and rice? Is that something that you want to do for the rest of your life? Or would it be more enjoyable to have some pizza or a donut from time-to-time and know that it fits into those prescribed macros and isn’t actually making you cheat on your diet. Side note: we do not believe in making you starve for results! We want you to eat!
The results that come are directly related to how much effort you put in, but if you are already putting in hours in the gym, why not take this next step? You have a community that keeps you accountable in the gym and with FTN you can have the same accountability when it comes to your nutrition via weekly email conversations with your coach.

What is CrossFit?

CrossFit is a fitness program designed around the things you do in the real world. Every day, you bend down and pick things up, you put things over your head, you squat down, you stand up, you run after your kids or jump over a puddle. CrossFit prepares you for all that and then some, by performing those exact movements in our workouts. We use exercises from Olympic weightlifting, gymnastics, and track and field, and the programs are always varied, so your body is always adapting, getting stronger, faster, and better conditioned.
